“Donor: someone who gives money, blood, or organs.” What a definition. One that reminds us that donating is never a small gesture.
And what a perfect symbol I have been given following the launch of “Amor” on the last Bandcamp Friday on 7th August: you gave a total of 1102.31$ in 24 hours, which means that after 3 years of fundraising, the donations across my 2 fundraising initiatives (animal/human) have now matched each other almost perfectly, with $3456.25 collected for 18 animal shelters, $3,546.90 for 5 humanitarian organizations, now totalling $7003.15. A perfect symbol, because I have always thought both initiatives were equally important. Perhaps I started with animals because it seemed easier somehow, more obvious perhaps too since animals don’t have a voice, bur I think I also somehow did not feel “legitimate” enough to start fundraising for my own species. I was proven wrong thanks to your generosity.
This is probably the most overwhelmed we have been as a species, and this time the overwhelm coincides with a planet that has also reached a point of implosion. In these circumstances, it is totally understandable to feel nothing makes (much of) a difference, therefore I extend a deep thank you to each one of you who has made the gesture of making a donation, no matter how small.
I also do want to extend a special thank you to my “repeat donors”, who have made a huge difference in the total amount collected, as they tend to be the most generous with their donations, across multiple instances.
